Ingredients
  

  • 2 pounds spare ribs
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon paprika
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper optional for heat
  • 1 cup barbecue sauce

Method
 

  1. Preheat the oven.
  2. Remove the membrane from the back of the spare ribs.
  3. In a bowl, mix together brown sugar, paprika, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and cayenne pepper.
  4. Rub the spice mixture all over the spare ribs.
  5. Place the ribs on a baking sheet lined with foil.
  6. Cover the ribs with foil and bake in the oven for 2.5 hours.
  7. Remove the foil and brush barbecue sauce over the ribs.
  8. Bake uncovered for an additional 30 minutes until tender and caramelized.
