Ingredients

Crust Ingredients
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 4 large eggs
Filling Ingredients
  • Zest of 2 fresh oranges
  • 1/2 cup fresh orange juice
  • 1 tsp baking powder
Glaze Ingredients
  • 1 cup powdered sugar for the glaze
  • 2 tbsp fresh orange juice for the glaze

Equipment

  • 8x8-inch baking pan
  • Mixing Bowl
  • whisk

Method

Baking Process
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease an 8×8-inch baking pan.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine melted butter, flour, and granulated sugar until crumbly. Press into the bottom of the pan and bake for about 15 minutes until lightly golden.
  3. While the crust bakes, whisk together eggs, granulated sugar, orange juice, zest, baking powder, and flour until smooth.
  4. Once the crust cools slightly, pour the filling over it and bake for another 20-25 minutes until set but jiggly in the center.
  5. Cool completely in the pan before mixing powdered sugar with orange juice for glaze consistency—drizzle over cooled bars.
  6. Slice into squares and serve at room temperature or chilled.
