- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.

- In a mixing bowl, beat softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until creamy.
- Add egg and vanilla; mix until well combined.
- Gradually incorporate dry ingredients and mix until combined. Add red food coloring until desired shade is reached.
- Scoop tablespoon-sized balls of dough onto prepared sheets, spacing them two inches apart.
- Bake for about 10 minutes or until edges are set but centers remain soft.
