Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 tbsp red food coloring
  • Cream cheese frosting for drizzling

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt; set aside.
  3. In a mixing bowl, beat softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until creamy.
  4. Add egg and vanilla; mix until well combined.
  5. Gradually incorporate dry ingredients and mix until combined. Add red food coloring until desired shade is reached.
  6. Scoop tablespoon-sized balls of dough onto prepared sheets, spacing them two inches apart.
  7. Bake for about 10 minutes or until edges are set but centers remain soft.
  8. Cool slightly before drizzling with cream cheese frosting.
